After a couple of wonky weeks with regards to the schedule, I’m back in the room. I missed you!
📖 Christmas Is All Around* - Martha Waters. (*ad - Amazon affiliate link). Oh my god, it’s another book with a protagonist in her late 20s re-evaluating things she previously thought to be true. Well I never!!!
That out of the way - I loved this. Our protagonist is a former child star of a sugar-sweet Christmas film, who’s escaped New York to spend the festive period with her sister and extremely noisy niece. Martha Waters gives us all the rom-com tropes we love while joyfully skewering them (I squealed in delight more than once) and creating an absolutely gorgeous cast of characters. (I’ve also read and loved all her ‘historical-ish’ rom-coms)
I need a film adaptation of this book, and I need it now. Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield for the leads? Why not?
🎄 Waitrose Cinnamon Knots. These were a recommendation from

You could make them at home, if you could be bothered - or you could just buy them.🥾Blundstones Chelsea Boots* and Wool Footbeds*. I had wanted a pair of Blundstones for years and finally splashed the cash this autumn. I’ve been living in them (after the first wear, when I got horrible blisters and was terrified I’d bought them too small, and it turned out I was just breaking them in). Now it’s got chilly I’ve slipped in their sheepskin wool footbeds - which unlike generic wool insoles, replace the actual footbeds of the boots and are sized perfectly. And they’re so cosy.

In the summer of 2022 I was training for a half marathon. I’d given myself plenty of time to work my way up to the distance, and by mid-August I was running ten or eleven miles every Sunday, and loving spending all that time outside in the fresh air. I wasn’t fast by any means (I was looking at a 2 hour 45 half-marathon time) - but I
Consider those cinnamon knots added to my shopping list!
