Welcome to this week’s roundup of three things I’ve been enjoying!

📕 The Undermining of Twyla and Frank* - Megan Bannen. (*ad - Amazon affiliate link). I mentioned the first book in this series, The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy*, in the mid-year book freakout tag - in the sequel, I really enjoyed learning more about the world Bannen has created. Just like in Hart and Mercy, the world building is beautifully woven through the story - and in particular in this book we find out more about the religious beliefs and practices underpinning life in Bushing and the other Federated Islands of Cadmus. Plus, there are dragons. And glitter. I’m now looking forward to book 3*, which comes out next summer.
🍻 Camden Town Brewery Lager Top. My Austria trip reminded me how deliciously refreshing a Radler (lager with lemonade) is in warm weather, so when I saw these cans in the supermarket I knew I had to try them. They’re a nice Camden lager with lemon puree added, no funny business. Wonderful on a hot day.
🌎 Come From Away on tour. When I saw that my favourite musical was coming to the Bristol Hippodrome, I knew I had to get myself a seat - so last week I made the most of being on annual leave and went down to the theatre for the Wednesday afternoon matinee. As ever, a masterpiece - I was in tears from the second song (‘I’m fine, Tom, I’m fine…’). There are plenty of tour dates left this autumn and I encourage you to check the show out. Some of the cast were familiar to me from the West End production while others were new: Daniel Crowder as Nick and Dale Mathurin as Bob were especially good.

What we really need is a Femininomenon
Last summer was a celebration of girlhood. We had the Barbie movie, we saw the Eras Tour’s first leg wrap the USA in handmade friendship bracelets, and we revelled in being ‘just like all the other girls.’
