Welcome to this week’s roundup of three things I’ve been enjoying!

📕 Lovelight Farms* - BK Borison. (*ad - Amazon affiliate link) I’m working on a Christmas-set romance novel (one character is a Scrooge, the other is a Golden Retriever who grew up on a Christmas tree farm). So I knew I had to pick this novel up. Lovelight Farms involves fake dating, a wholesome small town, and a protagonist who has bought a struggling Christmas tree farm… I loved it!
🎵 slutty european summer playlist. I’ll talk more about Casey McQuiston’s The Pairing* when it comes out in a couple of weeks, but this week one of my favourites is the first of a set of playlists Casey has put together to go with the book. They’ve done this for previous books - some of the Red White & Royal Blue playlists are still in my regular rotation - and I’m loving putting this on shuffle (art by the fantastic Venessa Vida Kelley)
📺 Paris 2024 Olympics. I love watching the Olympics on TV and with Paris only one hour ahead of the UK, it will be really easy for me to follow events for the first week of the Olympics this year. (After that… I’m going to be travelling!) As ever, Ilona Maher of the US Rugby Women’s 7s team is putting out fantastic social media videos and is totally worth a follow.
Noticed something a bit different? For the next couple of months I’m trying out separating my weekly recommendations out from the ‘thinkier’ piece that goes along with them. Let’s see how it goes - I’d love to hear any thoughts.
Last week’s longer newsletter:
Deciding Once
Steve Jobs was famous for wearing the same outfit every day - that’s a great application of the ‘Decide Once’ principle. Rather than putting his energy into thinking about clothing, he just wore the same thing, and freed up his mental space and creative energy for other things. Personally, I love clothes and novelty too much to do that, but I wanted to …
Also this week, I published my regular monthly round-up of links and recommendations:
The sensory joy of junk food, and other nice things
One of my favourite monthly pieces to share with you all is this round-up of things I’ve found over the course of the month that I wanted to share with you. This is a long, full-of-links, email which might get cut-off by some email providers - I can recommend downloading the
