Hello! I’m hopping back into your inboxes to share what I read last month! My standout books for the month were Great Circle, Here We Go Again, Core Samples, and The Wager. All three are stories about huge journeys which leave people changed and involve matters of life and death - and no, I don’t think that’s a coincidence for reading in the darkest (longest!) month of the year. At the same time, I’m going on a bit of a personal journey at the moment - I’ve just turned 31, I’ve stepped away from the work I’ve been doing to go back to uni, and there’s definitely some re-evaluation of priorities going on…

Eight of these were library ebooks (I love the Libby app with my whole heart), eight were ebooks on my Kindle, and two were in paperback (one from the library, one from my shelf at home). That’s a pretty accurate representation of what most of my reading looks like, these days. Crucially, I ‘only’ bought four books (of which two were pre-orders for later in the year), so I reduced my towering backlog of books I own but haven’t yet read, whether in physical copies or on my Kindle, by four. I had had the Maggie Shipstead on my Kindle since 2022 - I’m so glad I finally got to read it! - and The Lending Library since 2020!
