Welcome to this week’s roundup of three things I’ve been enjoying!
⛵️ Dinghy Sailing. As part of making the most of being a student again, I’ve joined the sailing club at uni, and I’ve been out in a dinghy twice in the last week. It’s fair to say it took a while for the muscle memory to come back, but I had a boatload (pun intended) of fun, and I’ve got the legs covered in bruises to prove it.
🍪 Loacker Napolitaner wafers. I’m obsessed with these. I’m not fussy - any brand will do, and I will bounce between the hazelnut- and chocolate-filled options. But they’re just so good. I have just demolished a packet (with a vanilla decaf latte) while writing this, in fact.
📚 Not Here To Make Friends - Jodi McAlister (ad - Amazon affiliate link). Confession: I’ve never watched The Bachelor, but at this point I’ve read so many books set behind the scenes of thinly-veiled versions of the show, I think I could stage my own version. This one, by Aussie author Jodi McAlister, is a romance I picked up as ‘research’ for one of my ongoing projects, which is a sort of friends-to-lovers, second-chance-romance storyline with a workplace competition element. Cleverly, McAlister has three novels in this ‘Marry Me, Juliet’ series, all set on the same season of the show, following three different couples. I’d love to know how she keeps those plots straight in her head! Anyway - I really enjoyed this novel. It’s definitely the first time I’ve read ‘Covid restrictions as plot device’ but it was done so well that I didn’t dislike it.
