Here is the third of a series of daily posts with some fun distractions over the festive period. In case you need a moment away from your loved ones, you know? If you’d like some more web-based distractions, I have a library of “links and listens” posts for you to dive into.

Some house porn to start today’s links off… here’s a glimpse into the renovation process of an abandoned house in a Normandy village… and here’s the finished kitchen/ living area:
For a handbrake turn into some silly entertainment - this completely unhinged promo video for Waitrose (a boujie British supermarket) featuring S Club 7 is absolutely worth a watch.
For some more silly content - here’s a lovely episode of NPR podcast “How To Do Everything” to listen to. It includes Sir Patrick Stewart, doyen of British theatre, demonstrating how cows with different regional accents moo. Trust me.
I’m at my parents’ house for the Christmas break, which means a chance to catch up on all the TV I haven’t had a chance to watch this year… including season two of The Diplomat. Only six episodes (so I was able to get through them all in one day) but, my god, it was twisty and turny. Highly recommend.
If you’re having a big meal today, you might hear some diet culture voices in your head (or around the table) - I loved this reminder from Laura Girard of 100 reasons to move your body that have nothing to do with how it looks.
Thinking back to Glen Powell (because when am I not?),
wrote this fantastic piece about the men who like women for (I also mentioned the piece this jumps off from in September)I love it when someone commits to a joke, and this video is excellent (as is the bravery of wearing white to cook broth):
I loved the new Wicked film; this New York Times article “Dressing For the Emerald City” (gift link) speaks to costume designer Paul Tazewell. I loved seeing the close-up photos of some of the film’s showstopper costumes, and hearing more about the depth of the design process.
Speak soon (and I hope you’re having a lovely day, if you’re celebrating, and a bearable day if today is tricky for you),
Lily
Festive greetings! I love one of the comments on the S Club Waitrose promo, in which the person has so many questions but doesn't want the answers. 😆
